Dear TMS Parents:

Our Halloween Dance was a great success! Thank you to the members of the student government organization for creating such a fun event.

The first marking period ends on Nov. 17. Now would be a good time to confirm with your child that all work is up to date. Please encourage them to reach out to their teachers and attend extra help if needed.

On Nov. 3, the eighth-grade attempted to participate in an Electronic Field Trip with the National World War II Museum. Lessons learned included what happens to live video feed when too many schools try to log into the same website at the same time. Regardless of the frustrations, we were able to learn about what children did to support the war effort: from collecting bacon fat (there were fat collection days at school!), to writing letters that were photographed onto film reels that were then sent to troops and printed there, to pennies being made out of steel. Hopefully the full experience was recorded and we can use it in social studies classes in the spring.

The Tuckahoe School Foundation’s Casino Night is coming up on Friday. I have delivered my basket of Favorite Things for the auction – anyone like chocolate? You'll have to be there to see what else is in the basket!

The Music Department would like to remind parents of the dress code for concerts – the dress code can also be found by students on Google Classroom as well as on our school website.

For those of you who have served our country in the Armed Forces, I wish you a Happy Veterans Day. Thank you for your service. For more information about the history of Veterans Day, please see this website.
