The GO is sponsoring a winter clothing drive. Residents are encouraged to drop off mittens, scarves, sweaters, jackets, coats and hats for people who are in need.

The student group is sponsoring a second drive for the AYFA Foundation. Students are asking parents to help the AFYA collect supplies for birth kits to deliver to them developing nations.

Both drives have boxes in the main entry of the school.

The second marking period has ended. Grades will be finalized early next week, and report cards will be sent out soon after.

English teachers spent time Wednesday with their high school colleagues learning about the Reading Wonders program being used at the William E. Cottle School. This work will help build on the work students and teachers are doing in the primary grades and help raise achievement across the board.

Interim Superintendent Charles Wilson, Superintendent-elect Carl Albano and Board of Education President Julio Urbina will meet with middle school/high school parents/guardians on Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the MS/HS library for a town hall-style forum to update parents on the strategic plan and board goals and share Albano's vision for the district, as well as listen to ideas and answer questions.
