Concordia College Athletics Department Inducts John Bahr Into Wall Of Fame

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- The Concordia College Athletics Department in Bronxville has announced that the late John Bahr (class of 1975) will be inducted into its Wall of Fame.

The induction ceremony will be Saturday, Jan. 30, around 5:15 p.m., following the basketball doubleheaders against the University of the Sciences.

Bahr was a member of Concordia's first four-year graduating class of 1975 and was a member of the Clippers football and basketball teams. 

Upon graduation, “JB” undertook graduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and at Union Theological Seminary in New York. 

He was employed for over 35 years at Concordia College in various positions such as dean of students, English professor, director of the Concordia Distinctive and director of drama.

He was a member and past president of the Eastchester Rotary Club and a recipient of the Rotary's Paul Harris Fellowship Award. 

For more three decades, he provided pulpit supply as a guest lay minister for more than 70 churches in the Greater New York Metropolitan area. 

He died on Aug. 20, 2015 at the age of 61 while he was serving as Concordia’s Faculty Athletics representative and English professor. 

A light reception will be hosted in Stein Hall immediately following the induction ceremony.
