Eastchester Opens Play in Section 4 Baseball

WEST NYACK, N.Y. -- Eastchester and Pelham completed their first step last week towards Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and the Little League World Series. The District 20 and District 21 titlists, respectively, begin step two with the Section 4 Little League Baseball Majors Championship at Germonds Park on Tuesday. The six-team field -- Eastchester, Pelham, Poughkeepsie (District 17), Pearl River (District 18), Cornwall (District 19) and Patterson (District 33) -- opens with Pelham-Pearl River, 6 p.m., followed by Cornwall-Patterson at 8 p.m. Eastchester will face the Pelham-Pearl River winner, Wednesday, 6 p.m., and Poughkeepsie meets the Cornwall-Patterson winner. Eastchester went 4-0 to win the District title, punctuated by a 3-0 victory over Harrison in the final. Harrison has belted 23 home runs in its previous five wins before the title game.
