NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - When the New Rochelle and Mount Vernon High School boys basketball teams get together, it's usually the hottest ticket in town, and Thursday at New Rochelle High School was no different.

With a standing-room only crowd inside the building and dozens more stuck outside in the cold and unable to get in, it was the Knights who held off a late surge from the host, and held on for a 61-57 victory.

Mount Vernon (9-3) surged ahead early, and led 35-23 at halftime. But the Huguenots tied the game and took the lead in the fourth, and were up 54-51 with just over 3:00 to play. But MV tied it with 2:26 left and never trailed again.

Noah Morgan led the Knights with 14 points, and Justin Alleyne had 11. Justin Micken and Antoine Lewis led New Rochelle (6-5) with 11 points each, and James Wallace added nine.
