Spring Sports Preview: Eastchester Softball

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Eastchester High School’s softball team went a whopping 21-2 last season before they ultimately fell to Pearl River in the sectional finals.

This season, head coach Chris Walpole has a chance to lead his team even deeper into the playoffs.

The Eagles return several upperclassmen from last season, three of which are pitchers. Janine Lalli and Christiana Galella graduated and headed off to Marist and University System of New Hampshire, respectively, but Eastchester still has plenty of experience on its roster.

Seniors Anna Crowley, Taylor DelGatto and Tori Milano join juniors Kristin Martin, Danielle Rella and Danielle Cacciola for the 2012 season. Crowley, Milano and Cacciola will all take the mound for the Eagles and provide experience at a crucial position for any team hoping to make a championship run.

The younger players on the team will also likely see significant playing time. Sophomores Casey Dell’Area and Ashley Petrone will be joined by new teammates Alexis Venterola, Francesca Chiodi and Stephanie Fiorello.
